Listen to Grandmother Isabelle share her insights on the strawberry teachings and the lessons relevant to our lives today.

The Strawberry Moon is the sixth moon of Creation. In Anishinaabemowin, the strawberry is called Ode'min, which means the heart berry. The heart berry can serve as a guide to understanding how all elements of self (mind, body, spirit and emotions) are interconnected. Across Indigenous cultures, the strawberry represents a number of principles and values, including reconciliation, interconnectedness, and welcoming everyone to ceremony.

Anduhyaun celebrated the Strawberry Moon on June 14, 2022 with teachings by Akeesha Footman and singing with Brenda MacIntyre, Medicine Song Woman. Learn about the significance of the berry fast, and our collective connection to water, Mother Earth and niibaa giizis nokomis (grandmother moon).
